Destination Lankaran, subtropical region of Azerbaijan [VIDEO]

Lankaran is the land of mountains, forests, citrus fruits and tea plantations. A wonderful climate and breathtaking natural landscapes are the hallmarks of this subtropical region of Azerbaijan.
The region occupies the east coast of the Caspian Sea and whole Lankaran lowlands up to Talysh Mountains. On the local shore of the Caspian Sea there are many fine sand beaches. Wet subtropical climate without harsh winters, dry and hot summer and rainy autumn underlie the richness of the local flora and fauna.
Lankaran is also one of the most ancient cities of Azerbaijan. There are many historical monuments in region. Ancient tower Abirlar, the tomb of Sheikh Zahed, Kichik Qala mosque, Guldasta minaret are well-worth seeing.
Here tourists are advised to visit the ancient port city which has preserved the fortress of Lankaran.
The city has recently been named among top five popular CIS tourist destinations for Russian tourists, according to RoomGuru service.
Fans of eco-tourism should visit the Gizilagach reserve and the nearby Sarah Peninsula, which are located right at Gizilagach Bay here. Hirkan National Park is another nature reserve placed in Lankaran. It has an enormous territory of 15,000 hectares where wild boars, jackals, Asian leopards can be met.
