Baku is fully ready for the 2016 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe and no bad weather could harm the competition, said Charlie Whiting, FIA Formula One Race Director, Safety Delegate, Permanent Starter and head of the F1 Technical Department, Trend reports.

Whiting stated that the track was fully prepared by the last month. “It was a difficult job because, simultaneously, the city needed to keep traffic. Now the work is complete. Small nuances remain, but, in general, standards are respected at a high level, work has been carried out according to plan,” he said.

The FIA official further added that possible rainy weather would not affect the competitions badly. “Racing cars have very wide tires that can withstand any slipping. But if the rain is very strong and torrential, the race-controlling group can take certain decisions,” Charlie Waiting said.

The 2016 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe will take place in Baku on June 17-19. As the track will start and finish near Government House and cover all the landmarks of the capital city, medieval Old City, modern iconic skyline, and spectacular views across the Caspian Sea, the movement of vehicles will be limited in some central streets of the capital.

Fernando Alonso, the official Ambassador of the upcoming Grand Prix, mentioned before that the upcoming Baku race successfully combines two important factors - amazing track and fascinating TV show. He said that Baku will introduce the fastest street track, and it will be an incredible show.

“Here you have the opportunity for overtaking, to do many different actions, and to develop a very high speed - about 340 kilometers per hour. Urban schemes are usually narrow and do not give the slightest chance for overtaking. But things will be different in Baku,” Alonso stressed.

. During the three days of competitions, such world stars as Chris Brown (June 17), Enrique Iglesias (June 18) and Pharrell Williams (June 19) will perform in Baku, in the special Formula 1 Village at the Baku Seaside Boulevard.
