Israeli gymnast: FIG World Challenge Cup in Baku held at high level

Baku received athletes from Israel very hospitably, Israeli gymnast Andrei Medvedev, who arrived in Azerbaijan’s capital to participate in the FIG World Challenge Cup in Artistic Gymnastics, said.

“We arrived in Baku early for training and I’d like to say that fantastic conditions have been created here,” he told Trend on February 20.

Commenting on his performance at the tournament, Medvedev said he has done it well.

“I’m satisfied with my results as it is my first start in this season,” the gymnast said.

The FIG World Challenge Cup in Artistic Gymnastics kicked off in Baku February 19 and is to end February 21. As many as 45 male and 22 female gymnasts will compete for medals in apparatus finals of the World Challenge Cup.

In general, athletes from 19 countries are to participate in the event.

Men’s and women’s qualifications on the first two days of the competitions will be followed by apparatus finals on the last day.
