The cycling event Porec Trophy, which brought together many sport lovers was held in Croatia on March 7.
The participants of the one-day event overcame the distance of 143 km.
Azerbaijani Maskym Averin finished third in the Porec Trophy, reaching the finish at 03:25:59 seconds and taking his second consecutive podium.
This victory gave him another 16 point to participate in Rio-2016 Summer Olympic Games.
Earlier, the national sprinter for the Synergy Baku Cycling
Project was second in the Umag Trophy and fifth in the GP
Izola.
“It was another hard day and my teammates did their usual great
job,” Averin said. “I am happy to be on the podium again.”
Averin won the race in 2014, but the course was changed and made
more difficult this year. “It was an uphill sprint,” said sport
director Andrej Hauptman. “Max is really in form!”
The race featured seven laps of a rolling circuit course, with the
final three kilometers slowly climbing, making a difficult closing
sprint.
Maksym's next destination is a four-day competition " Istrian Spring Trophy" (2.2 category) to be held in Croatia on March 12.
