Guadeloupe in France is a venue for the 2014 UEC European Track Championships, the fifth edition of the elite UEC European Track Championships in track cycling.

Organized by the European Cycling Union, it kicked off on October 16. The competition is bringing together cyclists from more than 30 countries including three from Azerbaijan.

Member of the national team Olga Ismailova will compete in 200 and 500 meters on sprint and keirin categories.

Another Azerbaijani cyclist Yelena Pavlukhina will show her skills in omnium, scratch and individual tracking categories. Meanwhile, cyclist Sergey Omelchenko will do his best in 200 meters on sprint and keirin categories. The exciting show will last till October 19.

Track is one of the purest forms of bike racing. With no brakes, gears or potholes, all a track rider needs to concentrate on is beating their opponents. It is an ideal place for a young cyclist to start as a banked cycling track which provides a traffic and pedestrian free environment to learn key cycling skills and tactics.
