The Azerbaijan Karate Federation held the national championship in traditional karate style at the Sports Health Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Azernews reports.
According to the press service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic's Ministry of Youth and Sports, nearly 300 karatekas from more than 35 clubs and representatives participated in the competition.
Two athletes from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic were among the prize winners of the national championship. Vusal Seidov excelled in the 18-20 age category, becoming the national champion by defeating all his competitors. Vusal also won a silver medal in the 18+ age category. Another representative, Muhammad Baghirov, won a silver medal in the 16-17 age category.
It is noteworthy that the top three athletes in the traditional karate style have been selected for the national team and will have the opportunity to represent Azerbaijan at the World and European Championships in 2025.
