The fifth day of the 37th Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships ended in Baku at the National Gymnastics Arena.
On September 20, performances took place in the individual all-around final, where 24 strongest gymnasts were selected according to the results of qualifying performances. The representative of the Azerbaijani team Zohra Aghamirova was among these luckiers.
At 14:30, gymnasts in group B took the carpet, taking 13-24th places in the qualification. At 17:40, the performances of the athletes in group A began, taking 1-12 places in the qualification. Gymnasts showed their skills in exercises with a hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon.
It is worth noting that due to the restriction on the number of participants from one country, several athletes did not qualify for the individual all-around final.
As for the results, Russian Dina Averina celebrated victory, who scored 91.400 points. Arina Averina, who also represented Russia, was only 0.300 points behind her sister and received silver. The Israeli Linoy Ashram this time was content with bronze (89.700).
Zohra Aghamirova, representing the Azerbaijani national team, took 16th place and won a license for the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo.
In addition, at 20:35 a ceremony was held awarded the Longines Prize - Prize of Elegance. The prize went to Laura Zeng from the United States.
Note that the gymnasts who entered the top 16 following the results of the individual all-around final received a license (maximum two gymnasts from the country) for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
At the 37th Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championship, over 300 athletes from 61 countries take part. The motto of the tournament is “Fairy Tales will come to life”.
