Azerbaijan’s Rustam Orujov and Elmar Gasimov have remained at the top of the International Judo Federation's updated rankings, Azertac reported.
Orujov retained his leadership in the 73kg weight category, while Gasimov topped the ranking in the 100kg division.
Orkhan Safarov remained second in the 60kg class.
In 2013, Rustam Orujov performed at the Grand Prix of Samsun, in which he was defeated due to lack of appropriate training. But in May 2013, Orujov was able to recover and became the winner of the tournament "Grand Slam", which was held in Baku.
In 2015, at the Grand Prix in Georgia, Orujov won the gold medal. In 2016 he became the champion of Europe.
Elmar Gasimov competed at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics and won a silver medal in 2016.
He also won a gold medal at the 2009 European Youth Championship in Yerevan, after defeating Lukáš Krpálek in the final.
Rustam Orujov (73 kg) and Elmar Gasimov are the silver medalists of the 31st summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
