Baku City Circuit announces writing contest

Baku City Circuit (BCC) today announced the launch of its second “Formula 1 Through Eyes of A Journalist" writing contest, which will officially be open for submissions from November 1st 2016 onwards.

The contest is aimed to further increase the interest levels of our national media and public in the Formula 1 Grand Prix, which successfully debuted last summer on the streets of Baku and is set to be a recurring annual event in our capital city in the years ahead. The competition also aims to continue to raise public awareness of the FIA Formula One World Championship as a whole.

Nigar Arpadarai, BCC’s Head of Marketing and Communications, today called on journalists to actively participate in the competition: "This year, Baku successfully hosted the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe for the first time to great international acclaim, providing our national journalists with a unique opportunity to observe and cover this international motorsport event up close for the first time.

"By calling upon all journalists to take an active part in our writing contest, I sincerely hope that your articles will contribute to further raising public awareness of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, and in particular of the round hosted in Baku. As a direct result of your coverage and writings on Formula 1, we fully expect the number of motorsport fans in our country to be increased substantially."

All entries should be published in print or online and submitted no later than December 25th, 2016. All participants must be Azerbaijani residents and at least 21 years old.

Contest results will be announced on January 14th, 2017, and the first place winner will be awarded a trip to the 2017 Formula 1 Pre-Season Testing in Barcelona (Spain).

All participants will be awarded prizes and certificates for their participation.
