Azerbaijan wins 13th medal in Rio
On Day 14 of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, Azerbaijan increased its medal haul to 13 by winning three more medals.
Azerbaijani athlete Milad Beigi Harchegani won a bronze medal in the men's 80 kg taekwondo. Harchegani destroyed Polish Piotr Pazinski 12-0 by points gap to earn Azerbaijan’s second taekwondo bronze.
Wrestler Jabrayil Hasanov also claimed a bronze medal in the men’s freestyle 74 kg semifinals, defeating Uzbekistan’s Bekzod Abdurakhmonov 9-7 by technical points in the semifinals.
Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler Haji Aliyev secured bronze medal in the men’s freestyle 57 kg semifinals. Aliyev defeated Bulgaria's Dubov Vladimir Vladimirov by the fall.
Fifty-six athletes are representing Azerbaijan at the 2016 Summer Olympics, underway in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The Games, which kicked off on August 5, will end on August 21, and will be followed by the 15th Summer Paralympic Games on September 7-18.
The Azerbaijani squad is represented in Rio Olympics by 56 athletes who compete in 18 sports in both Summer Olympic Games and Summer Paralympic Games. 36 of them will participate in the Olympic Games for their first time.
