Azerbaijan adds 7th medal to its Olympic haul [PHOTO]

Azerbaijan’s athletes added two more medals to the country’s
medal haul thus increasing the number of trophies to seven in Rio
Olympics.
National female wrestler Maria Stadnik has tonight claimed a silver
medal of the Rio in the women's 48 kg weight category, defeated by
Japan’s Eri Tosaka.
Azerbaijani female taekwondo fighter Patimat Abakarova has won Olympics bronze. This become the first Olympic medal of the country in this sports.
Abakarova defeated French Yasmina Aziez 7-2 in the 49kg bronze medal bout.
Azerbaijan’s other medals were taken by judokas Rustam Orudjev (73kg) and Elmar Gasimov (100kg) both silver. Two bronze medals were claimed by Greco-Roman wrestler Sabah Shariati (130 kg) and rower Inna Osypenko-Radomska, who took the Olympic bronze in women’s 200 meters kayak single, Greco-Roman wrestler Rasul Chunayev (66kg).
Meanwhile Azerbaijan still has chance to win this year’s gold. Five Azerbaijani sportsmen will join the Games today. Canoe sprinter Valentin Demyanenko, wrestler Natalia Sinishin (53kg), triathlete Rostislav Pevtsov and boxer Kamran Shahsuvarli (75 kg) will compete for medals.
Fifty-six athletes are representing Azerbaijan at the 2016 Summer Olympics, underway in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
