Ankara says U.S. applying double standards in fight against terrorism
The U.S .is insincere and applies double standards in fight against terrorism, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said, TRT Haber TV channel reported on May 27.
The minister said that the U.S. army soldiers were using stripes of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) terrorist organization, which is a Syrian wing of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorist group, during military operations against the militants of the "Islamic State" (IS, aka ISIS, ISIL or Daesh) terrorist group, which is unacceptable.
U.S. officials said before that the PYD in Syria is not a terrorist organization.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the U.S. must decide who is its ally - Turkey, or the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Syria.
Mevlut Cavusoglu said that the statement that the PYD in Syria is not a terrorist organization is contrary to common sense.
