Ex-MP says gov’t change in Turkey not to lead to political chaos
The expected government change in Turkey on May 22 won't lead to political chaos in the country, Mustafa Kabakci, former MP from the Justice and Development Party told Trend.
The reshuffle in the government is quite a common occurrence, according to the former MP.
"Turkey has certain political and economic goals and one of them is to become a strong power in the region," said Kabakci.
He didn't rule out that the new government will promote the adoption of a new constitution, as well as the transition from the parliamentary to the presidential system.
The extraordinary congress of the Justice and Development Party will be held May 22 to elect the new head of the party and the new prime minister of the country.
The Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communication Binali Yildirim, Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdag, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak, Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus, and the ruling party's vice chairman Mehmet Ali Sahin are among the candidates.
The current Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has said that he will not run for the party chairman's spot.
