Turkey joins military drills of “Islamic anti-terrorism coalition”

Turkish armed forces are participating in the military drills of the “Islamic anti-terrorism coalition” led by Saudi Arabia, the Turkish newspaper Haber7 reported Fon February 29.

The exercises started on Feb. 28 evening in the north-east of Saudi Arabia and involve 20,000 servicemen from the member countries of the “Islamic anti-terrorism coalition”, according to the newspaper.

Previously, Saudi Arabia formed the “Islamic anti-terrorism coalition” of 34 countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Egypt, Qatar, Yemen, Turkey and others. At the same time, Iran, which is one of the most influential countries in the region and which actively fights the IS in the coalition which includes Russia, Syria and Iraq, has not entered the coalition. Most of the countries, which joined the new coalition are also included in other military coalition against the IS with the Western countries.
