Iran, Russia fulfill obligations for S-300 delivery
Russian presidential aide on military-technical cooperation said Tehran and Kremlin are fulfilling their obligations under the contract for transaction of advanced anti-air S-300 missile systems, IRNA reported.
'Iran is fulfilling its obligations on advanced payments, while we are fulfilling our obligations on timely deliveries,' Vladimir Kozhin said.
He added that Russia will continue deliveries of S-300 air defense systems to Iran through 2016, according to Sputnik.
The aide added that the deliveries would take time and will most likely continue through 2016.
In 2007, Moscow signed a deal with Tehran to deliver five S-300 missile systems, but in 2010 it suspended the contract, following a UN Security Council resolution that placed an arms embargo on Tehran.
In April 2015, Russian President Vladimir Putin lifted the S-300 delivery ban, after the P5+1 group, comprising the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, France, China and Germany, signed an agreement with Tehran to remove economic sanctions.
