Turkey ups gas import
Turkish state pipeline company BOTAS imported 33.06 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources in Jan.-Oct. 2015, compared to 31.73 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2014, the company reported.
Turkey also imports gas from Azerbaijan, which is supplied via the South Caucasus gas pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum). The country has a contract on purchasing 6.6 billion cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz gas and condensate field per year.
BOTAS imported about 40 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources in 2014 compared to 36.1 billion cubic meters in 2013.
Moreover, BOTAS export operations accounted for 532 million cubic meters of gas in Jan.-Oct. 2015, compared to 554 million cubic meters a year earlier. In total, the company’s export operations accounted for 644 million cubic meters of gas in 2014, compared to 694 million cubic meters in 2013.
As much as 32.64 billion cubic meters of gas was sold on Turkey’s domestic market in Jan.-Oct. 2015 compared to 32.42 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2014.
This figure reached 40.81 billion cubic meters as of 2014 compared to 37.96 billion cubic meters in 2013.
