Turkmenistan, Russia identify priorities of cooperation
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov and President of Russia Vladimir Putin expressed confidence in the prospects of intensifying mutually advantageous cooperation during a telephone conversation, the Turkmen government reported on July 31.

The message said that during the conversation, the leaders of
the two states expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to
discuss the most important aspects of Turkmen-Russian cooperation
in personal conversation, as well as to exchange views on some
international and regional policy issues.
“As part of the conversation, which was held in a businesslike,
constructive manner, the highest attention was paid to the
discussion of the implementation of earlier agreements, designed to
serve the deepening of partnership built on principles of equality,
trust and mutual respect,” said the message.
Among the significant vectors of cooperation, the sides mentioned
the trade and economic sphere, transport and communication, urban
development, agroindustrial complex and other spheres.
The leaders of the two states expressed confidence that the
experience of regular contacts at the highest and intergovernmental
level will directly contribute to strengthening the Turkmen-Russian
dialogue.
Regarding the international policy issues of mutual interest, the
sides stated that the positions of Turkmenistan and Russia are
close in their pursuit to fully support the positive development of
global processes, in particular, the establishment of a broad
international dialogue on key items of the global agenda and
strengthening the foundations of lasting peace, stability and
global security.
Russia holds leading positions in the ranking of the largest foreign trade partners of Turkmenistan. The cooperation between the two countries has been recently intensified at the regional level.
More than 190 companies with Russian capital have been
registered in Turkmenistan.
They are implementing more than 240 investment projects.
