WANO evaluating Bushehr power plant’s performance
The World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) started evaluating the performance of Iran ’s Bushehr nuclear power plant on June 1.
The evaluation (peer review) process will last till June 18,
according to which 25 Wano experts have been conducting the
evaluation in 12 fields, the official website of the Atomic Energy
Organization of Iran reported June 15.
The association also plans to offer recommendations for the
improvement of the plant’s safety and efficiency.
This is WANO’s second evaluation of the Bushehr power plant. The
first evaluation was conducted in 2011.
Peer reviewing is one of WANO’s most significant services as it
helps members compare themselves against standards of excellence
through an in-depth, objective review of their operations by an
independent team from outside their organization.
The Nuclear Power Production and Development (NPPD) Company of Iran
is a member of WANO.
