Iran may hold joint drills with other countries
The Islamic Republic of Iran may hold joint drills with other countries, said Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari.
“If the Navy sends its fleet to other countries, it will also put holding joint drills on the agenda,” Iran’s IRNA news agency quoted Sayyari as saying on May 25.
Moreover, naval fleets of other countries, which enter Iranian waters, will hold joint drills with the Iranian Navy, he added.
Last year, the Iranian Navy held joint drills with naval fleets of Russia and China.
Iran plans to hold drills jointly with trans-regional countries in the current Iranian fiscal year, which began on March 21, said Deputy Commander of the Iranian Army Brigadier General Abdolrahim Mousavi on April 14.
“We will hold drills jointly with Kazakhstan and Oman, Mousavi added.
The Army has received requests from Venezuela and Indonesia for holding drills, he said, adding that Iran has also invited Russia to hold drills in the Caspian Sea.
“Studies are being made to hold joint drills with South Africa, as well,” he added.
