Economic growth in Turkmenistan

National economy showed good growth for the first four months of 2015, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Turkmenistan GDP volume increased by 10 percent compared to the same period last year, the State News Agency reported. The country saw a 7.1 percent increase on investments in various sectors and monthly wages increased by 9.5 percent.

The construction of facilities in the country worth over $50 billion are underway and since the beginning of the year about 50 buildings were completed and currently in operation. 280,000 square meters of housing have therefore be made available, 40,000 of which dedicated to high comfort housing.

The results of the first four months of the year clearly demonstrate the ongoing dynamic of indicators, "despite negative developments in the global economy and difficult external environment," read a statement

The results of individual industries for the first four months of 2015 were highlighted in reports made by the Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The growth rate of oil and gas condensate for the first four months of this year, in particular, was 108.2 percent.

Turkmenistan, which has proven reserves of natural gas amounting to 17.5 trillion cubic meters, ranks fourth in the world on this indicator, according to the annual report of "British Petroleum", one of the largest international energy producing companies. Turkmenistan stays behind only Iran (33.8 trillion cubic meters), Russia (31.3 trillion) and Qatar (24.7 trillion).
