First magnesium plant to appear in Iran
The first magnesium ingot production plant in Iran will be inaugurated this week, Iranian Fars news agency reported on December 22.
The plant, located in Iran's eastern South Khorasan province will meet Iran's demand for magnesium and make it possible to export the metal.
The construction work on the plant started in 2010 and about $30 million (based on official rate of 27,000 rials/USD) is invested for it.
The plant will have the capacity to produce 6,000 metric tons of magnesium annually.
Iran’s Minister of Industries, Mines and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh will attend the inauguration ceremony of the plant.
President Hassan Rouhani and his cabinet members are scheduled to visit South Khorasan province on December 24.
