By Aynur Jafarova
Kazakhstan will supply 1.4 billion kilowatt/hour of electricity to Kyrgyzstan next year.
This was announced at a meeting held on November 7 between Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev with his Kyrgyz counterpart Almazbek Atambayev, who is on an official visit to Kazakhstan.
Atambayev said in the years of independence, Kazakhstan made a great breakthrough by entering the list of five rapidly developing courtiers, as well as 50 largest economies in the world.
Nazarbayev, for his part, said Kazakhstan is ready to provide the necessary support and assistance to Kyrgyzstan.
Later, the two Central Asian countries signed several bilateral documents, including a joint statement, an Action Plan for Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, an agreement on economic cooperation in conditions of Eurasian integration, as well as an agreement on cooperation in the energy field.
Kazakhstan is the third major trading partners of Kyrgyzstan in
terms of trade turnover.
Over the past two years the trade turnover between the two
countries has consistently exceeded $1 billion. Despite the
complicated situation in the regional and global economy, the trade
turnover between them increased by 5.2 percent in the first eight
months of 2014.
About 90 percent of dairy products, 56 percent of fruits and vegetables are exported from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan. Almost 100 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s demand in wheat, 97 percent in flour, 70 percent in mineral raw materials, as well as 53 percent inorganic chemicals is provided thanks to the supplies from Kazakhstan.
