Iran's Air Defense Force will showcase new missile and radar systems in late September.

Commander of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmayeeli said the country will unveil a number of missile and radar systems on annual September 22 parades and have already spread these systems and radars in different parts of the country, Fars news agency reported.

The annual September 22 parades mark the start of the Week of Sacred Defense, commemorating Iranians' sacrifices during the 8 years of Iraqi-Iranian on Iran in 1980-1988.

During the parades last year, the Iranian armed forces displayed different weapons and military tools and equipment, including different kinds of fighters, choppers, drones, ground-to-ground missiles, air-to-ground missiles, surface-to-surface missiles, tactical and armed vehicles, surface and underwater vessels, electronic and telecommunication equipment, light and mid-light weapons, different kinds of artillery and mortar-launchers, air defense systems and engineering and logistic equipment.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.

On June 2, Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) officially put into service an indigenously developed long-range radar system, named Ghadir, capable of detecting stealth aircraft.

The state-of-the-art radar system uses three-dimensional (3-D) technology to detect airborne targets, including radar-evading aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, and satellites in low orbits.

Iran has frequently announced that its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
