Anaklia Port to be shortest path linking Europe and Asia
The Anaklia Port will be built in three years, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said on July 10.
He made the remarks at a presentation of the construction project of this deepwater port in Georgia's Samegrelo Region.
The prime minister said this will be a large-scale project, offering China and Europe a shortest corridor.
"We have worked very hard on this issue, and decided to build the port only after serious works were carried out and an expert opinion was submitted," Georgian PM said.
He stressed that a Japanese company, with worldwide recognition, held studies and concluded that Anaklia is the best place for building a port.
"The construction will begin very soon," Garibashvili said, adding that this will contribute to Georgia's integration into the international transport systems and attracting goods from east to west and vice versa.
He also said the port of Anaklia will be the shortest path connecting Europe and Asia.
"This project will be of great benefit to all, but first and foremost, to our country," Garibashvili stressed.
