Romania ratifies EU's Association Agreements
By Jamila Babayeva
Romania became the first EU-member state to ratify EU's Association Agreements with Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, signed in Brussels on June 27.
Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze welcomed the Romanian Parliament's important decision to ratify Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia's Association Agreements with the EU.
She noted that this step reaffirmed the Romanian executive and legislative bodies' support for Georgia's European integration.
"I would like to thank the representatives of Romania's executive and legislative bodies. Ratifying EU-Georgia agreement is a gesture of goodwill on behalf of our great friend, Romania," Panjikidze said. "It should be noted that both chambers of Romania's Parliament voted unanimously, and the Georgian government is deeply grateful for their decision."
Georgian State Minister for Integration into European and Euro-Atlantic Structures Alexi Petriashvili said the ratification process of the Association Agreement by the signatories will be presumably completed by autumn.
