Iran conducts defense drill in Isfahan
By Sara Rajabova
Iran is scheduled to hold a passive defense and crisis management drill in Isfahan nuclear region in central Iran, on June 25.
Head of Defense Passive and Crisis Management of Nuclear Industry Committee, Asghar Zaearn, said the drill is staged with the aim of confronting foreigners' plots, chemical and radial events and probable occurrences of industrial and physical sabotage, ISNA news agency reported.
He added Isfahan governorate and 25 provincial systems of Isfahan Province would take part in the drill.
The pre-drill operations of the maneuver have already been held with the aim of coordination, solidarity and boosting operational strength of the drill.
In May, Iranian army held military drill to test a series of its newest domestically-made weapons.
Iranian media outlets report that Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems in recent years.
Since 1992, Iran has manufactured its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles, radars, boats, submarines, and fighter planes.
Iran also unveiled its first domestic long-range Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) in 2010.
Iran has always stated that its military might poses no threat to other countries and its defense doctrine is deterrence-based.
