Georgia has no plans to deploy NATO missile defense system in its territory and this issue is not considered.
Special Representative of Georgian Prime Minister for Russian-Georgian relations Zurab Abashidze told local media commenting on the spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexander Lukashevich's recent remarks.
Lukashevich expressed concern over deployment of NATO missile defense system in Georgia.
"We are concerned about Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania's statement made in Washington calling for deployment of a NATO missile defense system in Georgia," he said.
Earlier, during the 'Toward a Europe Whole and Free' conference held at the Atlantic Council in Washington, D.C., Irakli Alasania urged the alliance to deploy U.S. defense systems in Georgia, as well as in other aspirant countries of the alliance.
Alasania believes that this measure is an appropriate response to Russia's actions in Ukraine.
NATO will review deployment of U.S. missile defense system in Georgia, NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, James Appathurai responded to Alasania's appeal.
