EU to back Georgia's energy reforms
Tbilisi has hosted a meeting of representatives of the Georgian Energy Ministry and EU Energy Cooperation Programme INOGATE delegates .
They discussed bilateral cooperation, reforms in the energy market of the country, development and reconstruction of gas networks in Georgia, standards in the gas and energy fields and using renewable energy sources, the Georgian Energy Ministry told Trend on Feb. 20.
INOGATE programme is important for energy cooperation in the region. The European Commission has been implementing it since 1999. The main objective of is to promote the implementation of energy projects with EU technical assistance. The INOGATE programme supports energy cooperation between the EU and the programme's partner countries.
