Kazakhstan, China discuss cooperation in space sphere

A Kazakh Space Agency's delegation discussed cooperation in space activity with Chinese instructors and companies within the 64th International Astronautical Congress in Beijing, the Kazakh Space Agency's web-site reported.

Kazakh Space Agency's head Talgat Musabaev met with head of the China National Space Administration and Deputy Minister of Industry and Information Technology Ma Xingrui.

"China is developing space activity by leaps and bounds and becoming one of the leading space powers," Musabaev said at the meeting. "An intergovernmental agreement, signed within Chinese President Xi Jinping's last official visit to Kazakhstan created a legal and practical framework for space cooperation between two countries."

The parties mulled cooperation in manned space flights and possibility of Kazakh cosmonaut's joining the Chinese crew.

"There are no obstacles for cooperation in manned space flights. We can immediately start to work on this issue," Ma Xingrui said.

According to Ma Xingrui, China is developing its own space station, and space laboratory will be launched within five years. Consequently foreign astronauts will have a possibility to work in Chinese space station in near future.

The parties also discussed cooperation in the field of telecommunication satellites and space science.

Head of China National Space Administration invited Kazakhstan to exchange data received by remote sensing satellites.

Kazakhstan plans to lunch two remote sensing satellites of medium and high spatial resolution in 2014.
Ma Xingrui also told his Kazakh counterpart about China's plans in space activity.
