Iran's foreign policy not threatens any country - official
Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan said that the country's
foreign policy doctrine does not threaten any country .
He went on to say that boosting mutual relations with neighbors is
Iran's priority, adding that extending relations with Islamic
countries is the next priority of Iran's policy, Iranian State TV 1
reported.
He also criticized western countries due to popularizing
Iranophobia in the region.
Iran is the harbor of the stability in the region Dehghan said,
adding that region's security should be provided by regional
countries.
Dehghan went on to note that Iran has the lowest military budget
among region countries.
"Iran is almost self-sufficient in defense industry and some 80
percent of country's military equipments produced domestically," he
said.
Iran has technology for manufacturing missiles of any range,
Dehghan said, adding that "we are among top missile manufacturers
in the world."
Iran has repeatedly stated that its military might poses no threat to other countries, reiterating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
Tehran established an arms development program during the Iran-Iraq war to counter the weapons embargo imposed on it by the US and its Western allies. Since 1992, Iran has manufactured its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles, radars, boats, submarines and fighter planes.
