Georgia's former agriculture minister interrogated

The interrogation of the former Agriculture Minister of Georgia David Kirvalidze in the Ministry of Internal Affairs lasted about four hours on July 22.
Later Kirvalidze said he was questioned as a witness in a sensational case in Georgia on corruption in the Ministry of Agriculture.
He noted that he cannot provide more detailed information on the interrogation, as the investigation on the case is not over yet.
Kirvalidze was appointed as minister after the coalition of Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili came to power. He had to resign after a corruption scandal, which was related to the purchase of tractors and processing of plough-land.
Some 54 million laris ($1 = 1.65 lari), allocated for these purposes, is said to be embezzled by the senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture.
