Uzbekistan, UK to discuss ties
First Deputy Minister of Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and Minister of State for Faith and Communities of the United Kingdom Baroness Sayeeda Warsi arrived in Uzbekistan for a working visit on June 9, Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry reported.
According to the report, the agenda of the visit of Baroness Warsi includes meetings and negotiations in the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during which it is planned to discuss topical issues of Uzbek-British relations in various fields, as well as international and regional issues.
Baroness Warsi visited Tashkent in April as a member of the British Cabinet and a co-chairman of the Conservative Party of Great Britain.
Great Britain is one of Uzbekistan's most important economic partners in Europe. About 419 enterprises successfully operate with British capital in the country. Representative offices of 95 companies have been accredited. Westminster International University in Tashkent plays an important role in strengthening Uzbekistan's human resource potential. The operations are being conducted together with the University of Cambridge to establish the Centre for High Technologies in Tashkent.
