Iranian presidential nominee plans special organization of tribes and religions
Iran's Presidential candidate Mohammad Reza Aref said that he
plans to establish a special organization of tribes and religions
in order to address the problems of the minorities in the
country.
He made the remarks during his visit to western Kordestan province,
ISNA news agency reported.
Aref promised to do his best to improve the life condition of
minorities in accordance to the Article 15 of Iran's
constitution.
Article 15 states that the "Official language (of Iran)... is
Persian...[and]... the use of regional and tribal languages in the
press and mass media, as well as for teaching of their literature
in schools, is allowed in addition to Persian.
Aref also promised to create one million jobs each year, adding
that unemployment is one of the main problems of Iran.
He further said that developing border provinces is one of the main
priorities of his administration if he is elected as president.
Iran will hold the 11th presidential election on June 14.
The voters will select the successor of the current President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is not able to participate in the
elections for the third term according to the country's
constitutional laws.
The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national
election.
