Iranian authorities will be able to control the situation in the presidential election be held on June 14 and will prevent the recurrence of unrests such as those that occurred in the presidential elections of 2009, Iranian ambassador in Moscow Mahmud-Reza Sajjadi told RIA Novosti in an interview.

After the declaration of the results of presidential elections held on June 12, 2009, where incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won, the opposition accused the authorities of election rigging and demanded cancellation of result.

As a result of ensuing riots, 27 people were killed and thousands arrested in Tehran.

"I think these will be quite dynamic and at the same time unpredictable elections, but it will be without any incidents. We have the experience of previous years when Western countries were implementing pre-planned action for undermining the situation in the presidential elections of 2009," Sajjadi said.

The ambassador said the Iranian authorities can completely control the situation and enable the people to make a decision in a peaceful setting.

"I am sure that the scenario of 2009 will not repeat itself," he said.

Presidential elections in Iran will be held on June 14. A week ago Iranian interior ministry announced the list of eight candidates who were admitted to the presidential elections. Two politicians belonging to the reformist direction, five conservative candidates and an independent candidate were included into the final list.
