New party set up in Kazakhstan
Members of Kazakh Democratic Party Adilet have voted for merging
with Kazakh Rukhaniyat Party. The party established following the
merging was called Birlik (Unity), Novosti-Kazakhstan news agency
reported with the reference to the Birlik party's
press-service.
Serik Sultangali was unanimously elected as the party's
chairman.
The new party has 140,000 members.
The issue of merging parties was proposed by Adilet party's
chairman Tolegen Sadykhov because of "similarity in goals and aims
of the two parties".
