Georgia is very concerned about the unplanned military exercises carried out by Russia without any notice, according to a statement released on the web page of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili on Wednesday, saying that the last exercises in the Black Sea are the most wide-scale maneuvers carried out by Russia since the military actions against Georgia in 2008.

"While Georgia is adherent to the statement of the non-use of force made by the President of Georgia in November 23, 2010 and is implementing its obligations under the ceasefire agreement signed between Russia and Georgia on August 12, 2008 with the mediation of the EU, Russia is violating its fundamental norms of international law by not fulfilling cease-fire agreement and it refuses to adhere to its commitment of non-agression against Georgia," the statement says.

Thereby, such actions committed without notification can create threat not only for Georgia, but for the whole region, the statement says.

Russia held large-scale military exercises in the Black Sea last week to test reaction speed and combat readiness.

Official spokesman for the country`s Defense Ministry, Major Gen Igor Konashenkov said that the drills featured 36 warships, 20 aircraft, as well as 250 armored vehicles on land and involved about 7,000 troops.
