Turkey to change rules for visiting country from 2013
Rules for crossing the state border of Turkey by visitors will be changed from 2013, Georgian Foreign Ministry's Consular Department informs citizens, Trend news agency reported.
"From Jan.1, 2013 citizens of other countries, including Georgia, who want to visit Turkey, will not be able to cross the border if their passport or documents replacing the passport will not have blank pages for "entry-exit" stamping," the department said.
The report says that in the period until Dec.31, 2012 if the citizens of other countries, including Georgia, will have a passport or passport substitute document without blank pages, they will be given "a one-off entry-exit form" with the appropriate stamp, travel sticker and a proof. This special form of non-Turkish citizens are required to carry with themselves during their stay in that country, as well as during departure, when they will have to submit it to employees of the border crossing point.
However, according to the report, these rules do not apply to those citizens, who have the right to enter the territory of Turkey based on a national identity card and take advantage of this right. At present, visa-free regime is valid between Georgia and Turkey, and the citizens of these states from Dec. 10, 2011 are able to cross the Georgian-Turkish border with their identity cards - without international passports.
