U.S. says to continue supporting Georgia’s joining NATO
The U.S. will continue supporting Georgia's aspiration to join NATO, its desire for greater economic growth and more jobs and prosperity in the future, U.S. Ambassador Richard Norland said at an event in connection with the presidential elections in the U.S.
Norland said that his country's position on these issues will not change.
"The U.S. is sure that Georgia must have the opportunity to choose its own future and to determine the model acceptable to it," the diplomat said.
According to preliminary results, Barack Obama wins presidential
elections on the number of votes of electors, CNN reported.
At the moment, Obama has 303 electoral votes, Romney - 206. To win
a candidate needs to have 270 votes out of 538.
Elections are held in a "winner takes all" when the candidate with
a simple majority of votes in the state takes all the electoral
votes from that state. In addition, each state has a certain number
of electoral votes equal to the number of representatives in
Congress (two senators from each state, and several congressmen,
depending on the number of districts).
