The names of Italian cities offering the highest quality of life have been revealed, Azernews reports.
According to a survey conducted by the newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, the city of Bergamo topped the list for quality of life in 2024. Trento and Bolzano rounded out the top three cities for residents. The survey considered 90 indicators across six categories, assessing factors such as healthcare, education, environment, and infrastructure.
Among the major Italian cities, Milan ranks 12th, Bologna 16th, Florence 36th, Turin 58th, the capital Rome 59th, and Naples is at the bottom of the list.
This marks the 35th edition of the survey conducted by Il Sole 24 Ore since its inception in 1990. Notably, this survey not only evaluates urban livability but also highlights regional differences in Italy, with northern cities generally outperforming their southern counterparts. This trend has remained relatively stable over the years, reflecting ongoing regional disparities in economic development and quality of life.
Interestingly, Bergamo's rise to the top spot comes after its challenging experience during the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought the city's healthcare system to the forefront of international attention. Now, with its recovery and continued investments in healthcare and infrastructure, Bergamo is seen as a model for urban resilience.
