Turkish Council highlights importance of peace in Baku-Yerevan negotiations
Long-term peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia is in the interest of all actors in the region, Azernews reports, citing a statement on the conclusions of the meeting of the Turkish National Security Council held in Ankara under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The document expressed expectations and hopes that the positive progress in the Baku-Yerevan negotiations would result in a peace agreement.
It was noted that the current situation in Ukraine was also discussed during the meeting. The Turkish National Security Council stated that the trend of the war in Ukraine expanding should be stopped, and a ceasefire and a just peace should be achieved.
The statement also drew attention to recent events in Syria, highlighting that Ankara has always and resolutely supported the preservation of Syria's territorial integrity and unity.
The statement emphasized that any threats to Turkiye's national security and the Turkish people would be immediately eliminated.
