Poland deployed South Korean K2 tanks near border with Russia
By Alimat Aliyeva
Poland is deploying K2 tanks acquired from South Korea in Branev, just a few kilometers from the border with Russia's Kaliningrad region, Azernews reports.
"During the first delivery, the 9th Brigade received seven tanks. Another batch is expected later this year. Currently, the unit has eight trained crews, who were trained by instructors from the 20th Mechanized Brigade," Koschinska said.
In July 2022, Poland and South Korea signed a framework agreement for the supply of approximately 1,000 K2 tanks, manufactured by Hyundai Rotem Corporation. In August of the same year, a contract worth more than $3 billion was signed, under which Hyundai Rotem pledged to deliver the first 180 tanks to Poland.
