Armed robot dog 'BARS' shows off in sniper competition
40 teams from 18 countries, including Turkiye, participated in the Boran-6 Sniper Competition, which was held internationally for the first time this year by the Gendarmerie General Command. Armed robot dog Bars, developed in collaboration with Quad Robotics and Savhatek using the talents of the Turkish defence industry, showed up in the field.
Bars performed high-accuracy shots at ranges between 250-600 meters with the MPT-55 and MPT-76 national infantry rifles. Bars, who can quickly engage the target and make accurate shots thanks to his electro-optical target detection and ballistic calculation features, attracted the attention of national and international observers with his performance.
Stating that robotic weapon systems are being introduced to battlefields and are fighting, Quad Robotics Founder Uğur Coşkun said, "We are also currently making efforts to implement examples of this in our country by looking at the information and examples we have acquired rapidly in the world. In this context, we have simultaneously integrated a tower system into a robot regarding the integration of 4-legged robots into the battlefield. We made shots at 250 and 600 meters with this system and the pinpoint shot was successful."
