Cost of basic consumer basket reduces in Mexico

The Mexican authorities have agreed with manufacturers and retail chains to reduce the cost of goods and products from the basic consumer basket, Azernews reports.
"We have signed a Package against inflation and deficit for 2024-2025 with companies that produce and sell 24 products from the basic consumer basket," the president said.
She explained that "the commitment is to set the maximum price of the basic consumer basket] at 910 pesos $44.3 at the current exchange rate." Thus, according to Sheinbaum, the price reduction will amount to 129 pesos ($6.3 - ed.).
"We appreciate this important collaboration in support of the people's economy," Sheinbaum added.
According to the Mexican Ministry of Finance, the signed package includes 16 measures to stabilize prices for 24 goods - 22 food products and 2 non-food essentials. In addition, measures aimed at increasing domestic food production are envisaged. The concluded agreement does not constitute state control over prices and does not imply any coercive measures against producers and sellers.
