Japan's main meteorological satellite is out of order
By Alimat Aliyeva
The main Japanese weather tracking satellite, Himawari-9 (Sunflower-9), has partially failed and stopped transmitting some images, Azernews reports.
It is noted that the problems occurred when transmitting images related to the detection of infrared radiation from the Earth's surface.
At the same time, according to the agency, the satellite devices related to the transmission of warnings about typhoon movements, heavy rains, strong winds, sea waves, etc., are functioning normally.
The Meteorological Department admitted that it does not yet know the cause of the breakdown and cannot predict when it will be fixed.
Himawari is a family of geostationary satellites, the first of which was launched in 1977. In addition to Japan, the meteorological agencies of East and Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand use data from these satellites.
