Vatican's Holy Jubilee Year mascot go viral on social media
By Alimat Aliyeva
The official mascot of the Vatican, Luce (which means "light" in Italian), was introduced to the public as part of the Holy Jubilee Year and has gained popularity on social media, Azernews reports.
Despite its brief appearance, thousands of posts and memes about the anime-style mascot have emerged on fan art pages across platforms like Facebook, X, Reddit, and TikTok.
Luce has also inspired the creation of Halloween costumes and the Luce Token cryptocurrency, which has a market capitalization exceeding $50 million.
In 2025, the Vatican will celebrate the Holy Jubilee Year, which occurs every 25 years.
Notably, "Luce" was presented to the public on October 28 and will represent Catholic pilgrims during the jubilee year. It will also serve as the official symbol of the Holy See Pavilion at the international exhibition Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.
