Winners of nominations on UNESCO World Heritage List to be determined in New Delhi

From July 21 to August 31, the 46th Congress of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee will be held in the capital of India. Azernews reports that, during the session, proposals regarding the inclusion of 27 objects in the World Heritage List and the conservation status of 124 objects previously included in the World Heritage List in Danger will be discussed.

The list includes Italy's Appian Way (Regina Viarum), the cultural landscape of Saudi Arabia's al-Fau archaeological zone, the emergence of modern-type people: Pleistocene settlements in South Africa, gold mines on Japan's Sado Island, a group representing the ideal order of the Chinese capital. building - includes Beijing's central axis and other cultural monuments.

It should be recalled that five historical objects from Azerbaijan were included in UNESCO's World Heritage List.

The World Heritage Committee is one of the two governing bodies of the Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. Its composition includes representatives of 21 states selected from among 195 states that are parties to the Convention. The Committee is responsible for the implementation of the provisions of the Convention. In particular, it reviews proposals for the inclusion of new sites in the World Heritage List and assesses the conservation status of sites already inscribed on the World Heritage List based on the analysis prepared by UNESCO experts. The committee holds regular sessions once a year.
