Turkmenistan to host 20th EU-Central Asia Ministerial Meeting in 2024
Turkmenistan will host the 20th EU-Central Asia Ministerial Meeting in 2024. This initiative was supported by the participating countries of the format during the 19th EU-Central Asia Ministerial Meeting in Luxembourg, Azernews reports.
Furthermore, at the end of this ministerial meeting, the parties adopted a Joint Roadmap for Deepening Ties between the EU and Central Asia, as well as a Joint Communique.
At the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, identified four main areas of cooperation with the EU.
Meredov stressed the importance of maintaining international peace and security, developing economic cooperation with the EU, creating new transport routes between Central Asia and Europe, including the Caspian Sea-Black Sea corridor, and also focused on energy cooperation, including expanding gas exports to Europe.
Meanwhile, Luxembourg hosted the 19th EU-Central Asia Ministerial Meeting on October 23, which was attended by delegates from all Central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The major goal of this gathering was to explore cooperative concerns and find answers to present challenges.
The nineteenth EU-Central Asia Ministerial Meeting was held in Luxembourg on October 23 and was attended by delegates from all Central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The main objective of this gathering was to discuss cooperative considerations and find solutions to current challenges. The meeting concluded with the signing of a Joint Roadmap for Deepening Ties between the EU and Central Asia, as well as a Joint Communiqué.
The twentieth EU-Central Asia Ministerial Meeting in Turkmenistan in 2024 will be an opportunity for the countries to further strengthen their ties and cooperation. It will also provide a platform to discuss new initiatives and strategies to address common security challenges, connectivity, economic and trade, environment, water and climate, education, science and innovation issues, and people-to-people contacts.
