Kyrgyzstan could become e-commerce hub for Central Asia

The Kyrgyz Republic has the opportunity to become a logistics and e-commerce center for Central Asian countries, subject to the development of innovative logistics centers. Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Nazarbek Malaev said at e-Commerce EXPO 2023, Azernews reports, citing 24.kg News Agency.

According to him, we are striving to position the republic as the digital center of Central Asia and, from a policy and regulatory point of view, have achieved significant success.

The official noted that the ministry is actively working to optimize government regulation, improve the quality of the institutional environment and create favorable conditions for the development of e-commerce in the Kyrgyz Republic.

He added that e-commerce is developing rapidly and the full development of this area is not only the creation of online stores and online companies for sales and services, but also a complex process with its own laws and regulations. The modern economy is closely interconnected with e-commerce. The constantly growing scope of e-commerce coverage of diverse types of businesses and its steadily growing volumes are becoming the norm for many countries of the world, including Kyrgyzstan.

It was stated at the forum that e-commerce is the main driver of growth of the digital economy of the republic, therefore it is necessary to outline the boundaries of e-commerce for the Kyrgyz Republic and determine parameters for an analytical assessment of this market.
