Magali Tingal: What President Ilham Aliyev said about France's colonial policy is true

"What President Ilham Aliyev said about France's colonial policies is true," Magali Tingal of the Kanak and Socialist National Liberation Front (CNLF) of New Caledonia told a ministerial meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement, Azernews reports, citing local media.

"On behalf of the people of New Caledonia, I would like to thank President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan for his speech at the Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement. What he said is absolutely correct," she said.

Magali Tingal emphasized that France was a very cruel colonizer. She said that although the local population wanted to postpone the referendum organized in Caledonia in 2021, France insisted otherwise. As a result, 57 percent of the population did not take part in that referendum.

She said that representatives of the Front de libération nationale de Nouvelle-Calédonie, who wanted their voices to be heard, would continue their struggle.

Nearly 1.5 million Algerians were killed during French rule, and the skulls of Algerian freedom fighters are still kept in a Paris museum as war trophies. This is a clear example of France's colonial policy and acts of genocide.

In conclusion, President Ilham Aliyev's criticism of France's colonial policy is factually accurate. The evidence from multiple sources clearly shows that France has not apologized for its colonial past and acts of genocide and that it is still engaging in neo-colonialism.
