The United States is ready to work on a common agenda and deepening ties between the United States and Kyrgyzstan, said U.S. President Donald Trump during the presentation of credentials to Kyrgyz Ambassador Bolot Otunbayev.
The meeting took place on April 8 at the White House in Washington.
Ambassador Otunbayev, in his address to President Trump, stressed that Kyrgyzstan is looking forward to developing cooperation with the United States and opening new horizons for the Kyrgyz-American dialogue.
He also expressed the opinion that today all the conditions have matured in order to bring Kyrgyz-American cooperation to a new level and open a new page in relations between the two countries.
For his part, Trump congratulated Otunbayev on his appointment as ambassador to the United States and wished him success on his new post.
Donald Trump emphasized the role of Kyrgyzstan as a regional leader in maintaining democratic values, and also noted that the American side is ready to work on a common agenda and deepening ties between the two countries.
“We see opportunities for interaction in order to ensure economic growth and expand commercial ties between our countries. Together we can help build a safer, more democratic and prosperous world,” said Trump.
The United States was among the first to recognize the independence of Kyrgyzstan, establishing diplomatic relations with it on December 27, 1991.
Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and the United States was $24.4 million at the end of 2018, of which $17 million accounted for U.S. exports, the rest - on imports.
